The Deep South Center for Environmental Justice (DSCEJ) like many other programs at colleges and universities in New Orleans, Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, while physically destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, recognize an even greater need for their services. It is imperative that our current programs are continued, but it is also necessary that we shift our major attention to the destruction caused by this devastating hurricane.

New Orleans Worker Center for Racial Justice

The New Orleans Worker Justice Coalition (NOWJC) has prioritized the establishment of the Louisiana Workers' Center to adequately address the long-term impact of this human and civil rights crisis voiced by the workers. The Center will be an independent, but collaborative, community-based organization advocating for and organizing workers in post-Katrina New Orleans in a multi-racial, multi-industry context. The People's Hurricane Relief Fund and Oversight Committee

The PHRF is a broad-based coalition whose activities are spread across fourteen working groups and whose stated focus is on the needs and perspectives of marginalized, poor, African-American survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
