The ILCA Media Center - In Action
Submitted by unionleo on November 13, 2007 - 3:03pm.
In New Orleans the ILCA set up 17 stations in a media center allowing union communicators to cover the stories in print, photos, video and audio and immediately edit and upload for the world to see. This is a unique approach to labor communications and one that can be replicated anywhere. Technologu costs and access are no longer prohibitive, allowing for fast, braod and comprehensive response to any issue whether it's happening right now or happened 2 years ago. The Katrina effect - 2 years later - is a story needing a broader audience and as strong a case to be made to prevent it from ever happening again.
