The Gulf Coast Construction Career Center has been training New Orleans residents to enter union building trades apprenticeship programs, enabling these students to help rebuild their city and  support their families through jobs with decent wages and benefits.

In New Orleans the ILCA set up 17 stations equipped with text, photo, audio and video editing capability to facilitate the stream of stories being told about the city 2 years past this country's worst disaster. As an experiment, the ILCA took on the task to demonstrate the power of the net and possibility for unions to set up labor media action centers and get the story told in rapid fashion. The technology needed and network for airing of stories is no longer cost prohibitive.
